Finally, back to the journal

Well, it's been forever since I've logged anything here. Mother finally succumbed to cancer, dementia, and pneumonia and passed away September 21, 2005. I miss her but I don't miss the awful state she had gotten in. She just seemed to have left us long before that date because of her loss of her senses. I know she wouldn't have wanted to been treated like the invalid that she had become if she was in her right mind. I watched her last moments on earth as she passed away in the hospital bed in her mobile home bedroom. She had been in that bed ever since the third  time she was in the hospital, which was probably a few months. She had to have round the clock care for around a year and a half. I felt like I had aged 10 years by the time it was over with because, right or wrong, it was basically left up to Lita and I to manage everything. Lita was a life saver for me because she really came through. I can never repay her for treating my mother with the care and love she displayed.

Many other things have happened since my last entry, too many to try and remember. We extended the patio and added a hot tub and it's really nice. I bought another truck, a 2003 Toyota Tundra, extended cab with 25000 miles on it. I love it. Christopher bought himself, with out help with signing on the loan, a 2006 dealers model Dodge Charger and Lita took over his 2004 Grand Prix. She sold the Oldsmobile to Charlie Schrimpsher at Shaw Enterprises. So, we are three nice vehicles now.

We still see and go with Vaughn and Pat a lot. We went to Florida again in May and just recently went to Gatlinburg Tn together. We seem to enjoy each others company more and more. I'm glad. Leslie and Lori are both pregnant and are expecting little girls very soon now. Christopher moved back home from Florence a good while now and was working for Sears, then Holt's pest control, and now he just got hire full time for the Athens police force. He had been a reserve for about a year now. Jeremy and Amy have a baby girl they seem to be doing ok, for the moment. Jeremy has a decent job it seems and is doing good with it, so he says. We'll see. Sorry, but I have seen this same scenario before but I am hoping for the best.

I have been off from work for four days because of falling on our patio concrete steps last Monday night. Our drain stopped up going to the septic tank and it was raining and as I wasstepping out bare footed on the back steps my feet slipped out from under me and I landed on the steps on my back. If felt as though I broke it for about a minute. I have been to the doctor twice and still it hurts. Hopefully it will eventually heal.

I will try and be more vigilant writing in this journal in the future. We'll see.
